Walk to School

The City of Ballarat is inviting primary school students to participate in a walking promotion competition where students and their school could win $1000 ($500 for the student and $500 for the school) each month during August, September and October 2017.

It’s easy to be involved.

  • Competition postcards and bookmarks will be delivered to schools in August, September and October.
  • Post cards and bookmarks will also be available at libraries and a limited number of other locations.
  • Each month students will need to read their school newsletter to find the competition walking message. If students can’t find the message in their school newsletter, look for the monthly competition walking message on Council’s Facebook page.
  • Students write the competition walking message on the postcard and return the postcard to enter the competition.
  • Drop the card at the Ballarat, Wendouree or Sebastopol libraries or Council Offices. Students can also submit their entries using the online form.
  • Winners will be randomly selected each month for 3 months.

If you need assistance please contact Councils Community Projects Officer on 5320 5183 or email paularoozenburg@ballarat.vic.gov.au.

Walk to School 2017Top of document.

Council are supporting local primary schools to deliver the VicHealth Walk to School program in October 2017. The program is a free, easy and fun way to get primary school kids and their families active this October.

In 2017 students are encouraged to put their best foot forward by decorating their shoes, bikes or scooters to make Walk to School even more fun. Remember if you have to drive some of the way you can still take part. Find an easy park 10 minutes away from the school and walk in.

If your school isn't taking part but you'd still like to be in the running for fabulous prizes, stuents can still register at Walk To School.

Schools can use this short video in class or assembly to help describe the program to parents, students and teachers.
