The new Grants Policy replaces the previous ad hoc sponsorship and funding arrangements.
This policy provides a more consistent, streamlined approach for community groups and organisations seeking funding for programs, events, products and services that bring a wide range of social, environmental and economic benefits to Ballarat.
The City of Ballarat has rolled out the first group of grant guidelines. Under the new Grants Policy, four of the twelve grant categories are now open for applications.
Community Events and Festivals Program Up to $10,000 for larger community-run events and festivals which advance and encourage the participation of Ballarat residents in local community life. Please see the Grant Guidelines and complete the Online Grant Applications.
Tourism Events Grants Program Up to $25,000 for projects, festivals, events or activities that advance and encourage increased visitation, participation and yield and/or contribute to the presentation or marketing of Ballarat as a tourism destination of choice. Applications will be considered from not-for-profit and for-profit organisations and businesses. Specific assessment criteria applies regarding value for money, increased visitor numbers, and increased yield. This assessment criteria includes sporting events. Community Impact Grants Program Up to $10,000 for projects that develop partnerships with the community and provide sustainable opportunities for participants and/or projects where the grant money assists in either the implementation of projects or activities, or in funding non-fixed capital items and equipment. This grants program is open in four rounds, with programs to be placed on hold when funds are fully allocated. Round One opened on 1 August and closes on 31 August.
